Strickland Fire Protection is a certified Quality Contractor by AFSA (American Fire Sprinkler Association) standards.
Strickland Fire Protection, Inc. believes in the importance of Fire Sprinkler Systems. Our mission is to provide efficient and quality fire sprinkler systems in a timely fashion. Our first priority is life safety and we want to prove that to you. When problems arise we never run from them, we run to them in order to fix the problem at hand. If you desire quality systems with exceptional integrity, then you need Strickland Fire Protection.
"Assurance with Trust" - Since 1983, when Manning, Laura, and Jay Strickland opened the business, Strickland Fire Protection has followed that motto. From our small start in College Park, Maryland, we've grown to be one of the largest fire protection contractors in the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area.
The growth isn't accidental. It's built on a solid record of fine service and quality products at a reasonable price. It also reflects a team effort of professionals. The Design Department uses state-of-the-art technology to design sprinkler systems to fit the specifications required by the contractor. The Service and Fabrication Department is an organized group of individuals working as a team to provide the best possible product. Field Technicians work around tenants schedules to complete projects without disrupting their work day. The Departments are bridged together by an experienced Management Team forming a highly integrated entity that efficiently bring fire protection projects in on time, to specification, and within budget.
Strickland Fire Protection is a full-service organization that provides expertise from project inception to completion. Our on-staff Fire Protection Engineer ensures that designs are in accordance with codes and can provide immediate feedback for necessary changes. This allows our company to provide fast service in the face of unpredictable complications that may arise on any given project.
"Only in America" - A Letter From Our Founder
"Only in America" chairman's message...
Only in America can a young man leave North, S.C., in 1961, abandoning a job at Sunbeam Bakery making 85 cents per hour and going to work for General Automatic Sprinkler Company in Washington, D.C. making $2.65 per hour, thinking to himself, "How sweet it is!". I moved into an apartment in Southeast Washington, D.C. with my cousin Tommy Wannamaker, who was responsible for getting me into the sprinkler industry.
The mentoring I received from Bill Kluttz, Claude Massengale, Fred Threadgill, Claude Morrow, Frank Barrier and many others proved the importance of coming alongside new employees and teaching them the trade by setting a good example, on-the-job training, and a structured apprenticeship program. I worked for General Automatic Sprinkler for 22 years, and in 1983 I stepped out on faith and opened Strickland Fire Protection with my son Jay and my wife Laura.
We have truly been blessed with great employees. Our philosophy through the years has been our employees are the most important to us and our clients are the most important to our employees. We started an apprenticeship program in 1990 and have 13 apprentice graduates from the program and eight currently enrolled. We have grown from three employees, and today we have 60 employees with very little turnover. We believe in The Golden Rule, (Matthew 7:12) and we try to run our business accordingly."
