How often should my fire sprinkler system be inspected?

It is the owner's responsibility to properly maintain your sprinkler systems. However, we would love to help you accomplish this. NFPA 25 is the standard for inspection, testing, and maintenance. NFPA 25 has items to inspect, test, and maintain during the following frequencies:

  • Daily Frequency - Occurring every day.

  • Weekly Frequency - Occurring once per calendar week.

  • Monthly Frequency - Occurring once per calendar month.

  • Quarterly Frequency - Occurring four times per year with a minimum of 2 months and a maximum of 4 months.

  • Semiannual Frequency - Occurring twice per year with a minimum of 4 months and a maximum of 8 months.

  • Annual Frequency - Occurring once per year with a minimum of 9 months and a maximum of 15 months.

  • Three Years Frequency. - Occurring once every 36 months with a minimum of 30 months and a maximum of 40 months.

  • Five Years Frequency - Occurring once every 60 months with a minimum of 54 months and a maximum of 66 months.

  • Even some items beyond this.

That being said, how often do you need to contract us? Many clients chose a quarterly frequency and will request quotes for 5 year and up inspection items as they arise. That means we will be on-site 4 times per year. Many owners and maintenance personal are quite capable to perform items below a quarterly frequency in-house. Depending on your jurisdiction at a minimal an annual inspection will be enforced during your annual site inspection by a fire marshal. If you are not up to code fines or worse (closing of the shop temporarily) could be enforced by your local enforcer.
